Common Ground works with the principals and staff at six elementary schools in Spring Valley, California to identify emergency food, clothing, or housing needs.
We provide boxes of food at Thanksgiving Break and Spring Break and an adopt-a-family program at Christmas.
​Our mission also includes offering enrichment programs for students. We distribute books for kids to take home and host teas and luncheons at several of the schools. We help arrange for music, dance and drama assemblies when possible, and assemble bicycles for the Bikes 4 Kids program at an elementary school each year.

Common Ground is an alliance of churches - Foothills United Methodist, Santa Sophia Catholic and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran - who share the desire to improve the well-being of the families who live in the Spring Valley community.
We believe that by combining our talents and resources, we can make a greater impact and meet the needs of students and families at Avondale Elementary, Bancroft Elementary, Casa de Oro Elementary, Highlands Elementary, Kempton Elementary, and La Presa Elementary.
We believe that the education of children is of prime importance. We therefore pledge our time, skills and resources in support of a healthy learning environment at school and at home.
